Learning Outcome 5 & 6
I learned how to do in-text citations in middle school, so having to do them for English 110 was very easy for me. I am able to cite quotes in texts using proper MLA format, for example, one of my cited quotes from Project 3 reads “‘our biggest technological advancements are like people… they elicit our deepest loves and hates…the artificial wins our admiration’ (Kelley 4).” I used the author’s last name and the page number of the quote to create a proper in-text citation.
While in-text citations came easy to me, I did have to learn how to create my own MLA citations for my works cited page. All throughout middle and high school, I was never taught how to site anything on my own, teachers would just tell us to use websites such as Easy-Bib instead. Some of the works I had to sight, such as the essays of my peers, couldn’t be sighted through something like Easy-Bib, and instead had to be done by hand. I got the hang of it at the beginning of the semester with Project 1, but I wasn’t aware that our MLA citations had to be in alphabetical order. Because of this, my works cited page was slightly off. However, I learned how to properly format my works cited page with my hand-made citations, and it came out much better for Project 3.

I also had to learn how to put all of the information in the top left corner of my essay into MLA format. For my first essay, I didn’t have the date in proper MLA format. However, I was able to correct this mistake with Project 3.
